I am excited to announce that I've been invited to take part in the Norcross Art Festival in October of this year. I was contacted by Art Fest Manager, Frances Schube, back in October of last year in one of those emails that gets your tummy all in a flutter. It was entitled 'I love your work!'. That's always a nice start!
It's an invite-only, juried art show. Those two phrases have always struck fear in my heart and I normally avoid being judged at all costs. My ego is entirely too fragile. But since she contacted me, I was safe. However, since I am such a chicken sh*t where my ego is concerned, I have never, ever in my life done an art show. Now I get to be chicken about whether or not I'm going to be able to pull it off! Lots of work to do!!
If you'll be in the Norcross, Georgia area in October, I invite you to come and visit with me. I'll be the chicken with butterflies in her tummy....
I am very excited and honored and also very terrified. Speaking of, I've gotta get back to work!
Here' an exerpt from the Norcross Art Fest website:
NORCROSS ART FEST HAS WHIMSICAL PERSONALITY
Norcross (July 7, 2008) – Historic Norcross will bustle with colorful exhibits and whimsical displays as more than 100 local and national artists line the streets at the fifth annual juried ART FEST October 4 – 5, 2008. The show will open Saturday, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Sunday, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
"Norcross Art Fest is truly the show with personality," says Frances Schube, ART FEST Manager. We have hand-picked the most fun and creative artists from around the country in painting, folk art, photography, pottery, jewelry, metalworking and so much more. That means, there's something for everyone, and the result is the best two-day art event in Gwinnett County. It will feel like a 'midtown' show in the suburbs," laughs Schube.
The weekend celebration draws crowds of 30,000 annually and will feature continuous jazz, bluegrass and live entertainment on Thrasher Park stage, as well as fun treats, fresh baked goods, free tastings and children's rides. The popular Kidz Zone returns under the Pavilion for young artists of all ages to enjoy arts and crafts projects. Local Historic Norcross boutiques, shops and restaurants will also be open during the event to welcome visitors. Parking and shuttle service are free.
ART FEST is a non-profit festival hosted by the City of Norcross and presented by the Norcross Woman's Club and Norcross Lions Club.
